Mental Health Services 

Clinical and social care support for mental health services is provided by Devon Partnership NHS Trust (DPT).

Devon Partnership NHS Trust

Devon Partnership NHS Trust was established in 2001. They employ around 2,000 staff and also have around 100 staff assigned from Devon County Council and Torbay Unitary Authority, including social workers and support workers. DPT serve a large geographical area with a population of more than 850,000 people. DPT work closely with health and social care providers across the Devon and Torbay and deliver mental health services for:

  • Adults
  • Older people
  • People with alcohol and substance misuse issues (provided in partnership with Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust drug and alcohol services)
  • People with a learning disability
  • People with a severe eating disorder who require a stay in hospital
  • People who need forensic or secure mental health services (usually people that have come into contact with the criminal justice system).

Community based care is commissioned via Devon Partnership NHS Trust and this includes residential care, home based support, and day care.

Other services purchased by the Trust include relationship counselling and  support, and advocacy services. Employment support services are also currently provided via PLUSS.

Torbay Mental Health Information Service

A confidential, free information and advice service to support people living in Torbay (TQ1-TQ5) who have mental health conditions, and those who care for them.  Offers information and advice on all topics related to mental health and appointments for help with social security forms (PIP, ESA, etc.) at St. Edmunds, Victoria Park Road, Torquay TQ1 3QH.  Contact the Service on 0300 456 8373 to arrange an appointment.
